Abstract: The objective of this work is to present the costs of nucleation techniques in environment restoration from damaged areas due to oil exploration at the Geologist Pedro de Moura Operation Base -BOGPM, identified by Petrobras as LUC 15, JAZ 104 and JAZ 94. Three nucleation techniques were used: topsoil, artificial perches and dead wood/sticks. Nucleation consists in forming propagation nuclei in small strategic points of the area to be restored. The technique takes advantage of existing natural resources in the … Show more

“…As suggested by Bento (2013), in the direct labor approach (MOD), workers who perform the activities of ecological restoration methods were taken into account. In addition, it was defined as indirect labor (MOI), both the workers acting in the supervision of the execution of the activities of the ecological restoration methods in the ASF, as well as those responsible for the transport of people and materials.…”

“…Of note, there are gaps in the methodology used to obtain data; studies have been performed in the Amazon Forest using artificial perches (e.g., BENTO et al, 2013), but these were not detected by the methodology applied. The general synthesis of the studies (published works; Table 1) shows that artificial perches imitate dry tree branches physically and functionally, and direct seed rain to a specific place (GUEDES et al, 1997;HOLL, 1998).…”

“…This is attributed to factors such as hydric stress, secondary seed predation, herbivory, seedling defoliation, and so on (Reid and Holl, 2012;Silveira et al, 2015). Furthermore, the quality of the restoration provided by artificial perches might not be worth the cost (Graham and Page, 2012;Bento et al, 2013). One of the most positive aspects of perch utilization includes the promotion of increased environmental complexity (Melo et al, 2000).…”
