Abstract: The lionfish Pterois spp., native from the warm and tropical waters of the South Pacific and Indian Ocean, including the Red Sea, is currently present from the US coast to Brazil. The lionfish is an example of successful invasion and it is the first non-native marine fish to settle along the entire western coast of the Atlantic Ocean, including Fernando de Noronha. So, we present chronological information about the lionfish invasion at Western Atlantic and Brazil.
