Critical Thinking Based Interactive Learning Media for Basic Mechanical Engineering

Abstract: Recent studies show limited research on the development of learning media that effectively addresses critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity(4C) characteristics. However, there is an urge for nurturing the 4C characters of vocational high school graduates in the 21st Century, especially critical thinking. Hence, this study aims to develop and discover the feasibility, usability, and effectiveness of critical thinking-based interactive learning media for Basic Mechanical Engineering. Thi… Show more

“…The development details the indicators of differentiating, orsganizing, and attributing with nine essay questions (total variance of 68.354%). Another difference from previous research is that this study uses essay questions with honest answers so that students have more opportunities to explore and describe their factual and actual experiences about the process of thinking during the learning process (Jumhur et al, 2021;Sari, W. K., & Nada, 2022;Supriati, Y. et al, 2021). Therefore, this study was designed for micromaterialsteaching (teaching skills) in whichpioneeringstudent analysis skills about the importance of analytical thinking skills in improving theirteaching skills, pioneering student analysis of transformational leadership as an important element of their teaching skills, pioneering student analysis ofmastery of information technology as an important element of their teaching skills, pioneering student analysis of the determination of assessment instruments in improving their teaching skills, as well as spearheading student analysis of peer evaluation with integrity to improve their teaching skills (Karim, S. A., Sudiro, S., & Sakinah, 2021;Sharma, 2021;Sudijono, 2011).…”

“…According to, students must have analytical thinking skills to complete research and develop new knowledge and innovations. Given that analytical thinking skills are important for the development of student competence students (Jumhur et al, 2021;Sari, W. K., & Nada, 2022;Supriati, Y. et al, 2021), the need for instruments by adopting "global" ideas and being reduced according to "local" contexts and courses is needed to operationalize learning activities according to problem-solving as well as being a valid and valid parameter in measuring analytical thinking student (Ad'hiya, E., & Laksono, 2020;Wiyarsi et al, 2019;Yandriani & Erna, 2020).…”

“…The percentage results obtained are based on the above calculations, then interpret according to criteria and categories according to Rohman et al, (2021) which can be seen in Table 2. To determine the differences in students' critical thinking abilities before and after implementing the e-module, genetic substance material was analyzed using a paired sample T-test in the form of pretest and posttest data (Jumhur et al, 2021). The prerequisite test for the paired sample t-test is a normality test.…”

“…On the other hand, the purpose of the research of Jumhur (2021) was to investigate the effectiveness of critical thinking-based interactive learning multimedia for Basic Mechanical Engineering. The information design in developing the learning media was based on critical thinking aspects.…”

“…Therefore, mobile-based interactive multimedia applications shall be effective in an interactive classroom environment; this is affirmed in many studies bySyawaludin et al (2019) Sandang et al (2022),Islam (2020),Jumhur (2021),Djamas et al (2018), andAbdulah et al (2021). This may be because language performance reflects the social nature of teaching and learning, and the cognitive development of the learner is deeply associated with cooperation and activity in an interactive multimedia learning environment, asVygotsky (1978) emphasized in his theory on social interaction.…”
