CRISPR‐Cas system for biomedical diagnostic platforms

Abstract: Clustered short palindrome repeats with regular intervals, abbreviated as CRISPR, and functions as a self‐defense system for prokaryotes, detecting particular pathogenic nucleic acid, interfering with the functions of exoteric DNA, and protecting them against foreign invaders. In recent years, CRISPR has attracted increasing interests in the in vitro diagnostic field because of its inherent allele specificity, which is one of the critical factors for the successful application of this technology in the develop… Show more

“…Reliable monitoring of metabolites including DNA in biofluids is critical for diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of various diseases. [44][45][46][47] Our results support the use of LASSOs to detect DNA targets at low copy number and/or in complex fluids like serum for "liquid biopsy" applications. For example, parallel DNA target detection could be very useful in studying cancer mutations in cell-free DNA found in peripheral blood.…”

“…To promote early-stage diagnostics of a variety of human diseases, the detection of specific biomarkers at extremely low concentration levels has attracted a lot of attention over these years [1][2][3]. Among the various biomarkers, tumor necrosis factor TNF-α has been studied intensively and proved to play a central role in mammalian immunity and cellular homeostasis [4,5].…”
