Abstract: IntroductionCoxiella burnetii is a gram-negative obligate intracellular bacterium and a zoonotic pathogen that causes human Q fever. The lack of effective antibiotics and a licensed vaccine for Coxiella in the U.S. warrants further research into Coxiella pathogenesis.
