A inteligência artificial (IA) está transformando a prática médica, especialmente na cirurgia geral. Este artigo de revisão sistemática examina os avanços dos últimos cinco anos, focando no impacto da IA na prática cirúrgica. Utilizando a metodologia PRISMA, foram selecionados artigos das bases de dados PubMed, SciELO e BVS abrangendo o período de 2018 a 2023. A análise incluiu estudos que investigaram a aplicação da IA em diferentes aspectos da cirurgia geral. Os resultados indicam que a IA pode melhorar a precisão cirúrgica, reduzir complicações, otimizar o tempo operatório e auxiliar na tomada de decisões intraoperatórias. A IA é aplicada em diversas etapas do procedimento cirúrgico, desde o planejamento pré-operatório, onde pode analisar imagens médicas e criar modelos tridimensionais precisos das estruturas anatômicas, até a assistência intraoperatória, fornecendo suporte em tempo real para navegação cirúrgica e tomada de decisões. Além disso, a IA pode ser utilizada no monitoramento pós-operatório, ajudando a detectar complicações precocemente e personalizando os cuidados de recuperação. A pesquisa revela que a IA é uma ferramenta promissora na cirurgia geral, contribuindo significativamente para a melhoria dos resultados clínicos e a eficiência dos procedimentos. No entanto, a implementação da IA na prática clínica enfrenta desafios, como a necessidade de validação rigorosa, integração com sistemas existentes e treinamento adequado dos profissionais de saúde. Conclui-se que, apesar dos desafios, a IA tem o potencial de transformar a cirurgia geral, oferecendo benefícios substanciais para pacientes e cirurgiões.
