“…More recently, corticosteroids and other agents like milrinone and vasopressin are being evaluated for their role in early hypotension in preterm infants. [35][36][37][38][39][40][41] Several randomized controlled trials comparing the efficacy of dopamine and dobutamine in preterm infants have shown that dopamine is superior to dobutamine in terms of improving the blood pressure. [42][43][44][45] However, this increase in the blood pressure does not necessarily reflect in improvement in end organ perfusion.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study on the effects of early postnatal DXM treatment on hyperbilirubinemia in ELBW preterm infants, whereas previous studies have focused on the effects of DXM on pulmonary parameters and neurodevelopmental outcome. Although early neonatal glucocorticosteroid treatment for the prevention of chronic lung disease is not indicated, in some centres steroids are being increasingly used in extreme preterm infants with circulatory failure (11). Because unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia is a common phenomenon in ELBW preterm infants, it is relevant to document whether steroids have any effect on jaundice, even in a small number of infants.…”

“…Postnatal steroids reduce the inflammatory process, stabilize vascular membranes and enhance the cardiovascular stability in neonates [ 62 , 63 , 64 ]. Both nebulized (Budenoside) and systemic (Methylprednisolone) steroids have provided benefits in the duration of hospital stay, the duration of oxygen supplementation and radiological clearance in MAS patients [ 65 ].…”
