Abstract: SYNOPSISRe-examination of goniatites described by Currie (1954) suggests that the base of the Arnsbergian (E 3 ) Stage is at the base of the Orchard Limestone rather than at the Index Limestone as Currie supposed. The Calmy and Castlecary limestones are at the B. bisulcatum and Cravenoceratoides nitidus horizons respectively. The Plean Limestones are believed to be at the level of the Ct. edalensis beds of England and to fill a lacuna in the north of England at this level.Of all the goniatites collected from …
