Abstract:BACKGROUND Intestinal obstruction accounts for 15% of all patients presenting to emergency department with complaints of acute abdominal pain. Recognising obstruction early, aggressive preoperative treatment, skilled surgical techniques and intensive postoperative management improves outcome.
