Corn‐based Electrochemical Energy Storage Devices

Abstract: The attention to renewable materials is amazingly increased in recent years to decrease environmental pollutions. Zea mays (corn) is one of the most produced plants by humans to provide food and energy. Hence, corn wastes as abundant and low-cost biomass are easily found throughout the world. Tremendous efforts have been accomplished in recent years to fabricate electrochemical energy storage devices (EES) from renewable biomass materials because of increasing attention to the environment. All main parts of EE… Show more

“…The batteries and capacitors have great importance in the routine life of humans. Tremendous efforts have been accomplished to prepare EES devices from inorganic, organic, hybrid organic‐inorganic, and biomass materials [35–39] . The main parts of the EES devices including Electrodes (anode and cathode), binder, electrolyte, and membrane (separator) can obtain responsiveness to consider the Stimuli‐responsive EES devices.…”

“…The electrodes (anodes and cathodes) are considered the most important part of the EES devices. Therefore, tremendous efforts have been accomplished to fabricate EES‐electrodes from biomass materials [95–99] . The biomass materials are pyrolyzed to form biochar because EES‐electrodes need high carbon content materials [95] .…”
