“…We recently reported the synthesis and molecular structure of the first neutral dinuclear C-nitroso-bridged complexes of rhenium of the type [{(CO) 3 ReCl} 2 ONC 6 H 4 R] (R = H, NMe 2 ), which exhibit dichroic properties. [1] They were obtained by reactions of the m 2 -O-aminophenoxy complex [(CO) 3 Re(m 2 -O \ NH 2 )] 2 [2] with C-nitroso compounds in the presence of stoichiometric amounts of AlCl 3 , which occurred instead of the desired condensation reactions which would have given N=N bonds and hence the directed synthesis of azo dyes in the coordination sphere of a transition metal.…”

“…These aromatic C-nitroso compounds show remarkably high reactivity because the amino group in para-position increases the electron density at the NO function [24]. Complexes containing these ligands are known for different metal centers and coordination modes as published by our group [25,26] and others [8,9]. However, examples for these or comparable aromatic C-nitroso ligands coordinated to Ir or Rh centers are rare in literature [27 -39].…”

“…Current reviews show the constant interest in this field of research during the last decades [7]. Not only due to its rich coordination chemistry with eleven different main coordination modes to metal centers [8,9], the family of C-nitroso compounds has been investigated extensively. Also the possible applications in organic synthesis [10], for example the nitroso ene [11] or nitroso Diels-Alder reaction [12 -14] attracted attention.…”
