Cooperative relaying in a poisson field of interferers: A diversity order analysis

Abstract: Abstract-This work analyzes the gains of cooperative relaying in interference-limited networks, in which outages can be due to interference and fading. A stochastic model based on point process theory is used to capture the spatial randomness present in contemporary wireless networks. Using a modification of the diversity order metric, the reliability gain of selection decodeand-forward is studied for several cases. The main results are as follows: the achievable spatial-contention diversity order (SC-DO) is e… Show more

“…φ eq is independent of h SR , h RD ; iii) η eq = n eq + √ E I √ BG; and iv) n eq ∼ CN (0, N 0 ). Then, from (12) a simplified demodulator, compared to (9), is obtained and its SINR is calculated. Finally, the error probability and diversity order are computed from the latter SINR.…”

“…In particular, the following curves are shown. Monte Carlo Simulation curves are obtained by simulating the whole communication system as described in [6], where the RVs B are obtained by using the estimator in Appendix I and the ML-optimum diversity demodulator in (9) is used at the destination. Analytical Framework curves are obtained by inserting (19) in (4) and by computing the integral numerically.…”

“…Stochastic geometry models for heterogeneous networks have been recently proposed in [7]- [9], where the BSs in different network tiers are assumed to be spatially distributed according to Poisson point processes (PPPs). Following a similar model, [10], [11] studied the advantages of cooperative relaying in a homogeneous network, while we previously studied joint transmission in heterogeneous networks in [12]. Our previous work, however, did not account for cooperative retransmissions.…”
