Convivial Relations Between Gender Non-Conformity and the French Nation-State

Abstract: As the discourse of transgender rights is gradually adopted by the nation-state, exemplified via the recent removal of gender identity disorder from the list of affections de longue durée , it has become increasingly intertwined with efforts to regulate gendered bodies that do not conform to national racial and religious ideals.
