Contact lens-related keratitis and purulent corneal ulcers

Abstract: An effective treatment strategy for patients with CL-related keratitis and purulent corneal ulcers was developed. It is necessary to improve microbiological research methods. Creating a unified national database of such CL-related complications is advisable.

“…The SH1, SH3, and SA3 sample were identified to be identical to A. variabilis. The manifestation of A. variabilis in CL-related eye infection is rarely found, however, the genus of Acinetobacter bacteria was found to cause keratitis that associated with CL wear as reported by Obrubov and Slonimskii (2018). Acinetobacter sp.…”

“…B. cepacia has been reported to contaminate topical anesthetics and has also been detected in a cornea tissue bank for keratoplasty [ 8 ], as well as rigid gas permeable trial lenses and lens cases [ 9 ]. There are only a few reports in the literature regarding B. cepacia microbial keratitis related to contact lens (CL) wearing [ 10 , 11 ]. In this report, we discuss a case of B. cepacia-induced bilateral microbial keratitis in a wearer of colored cosmetic CLs.…”
