Constraining nonstandard neutrino-electron interactions due to a new light spin-1 boson

Abstract: We consider nonstandard interactions of neutrinos with electrons arising from a new light spin-1 particle with mass of tens of GeV or lower and couplings to the neutrinos and electron. This boson is not necessarily a gauge boson and is assumed to have no mixing with standard-model gauge bosons. Adopting a model-independent approach, we study constraints on the flavor-conserving and -violating couplings of the boson with the leptons from a number of experimental data. Specifically, we take into account the (ant… Show more

“…From a collection of these data [65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75][76] tabulated in ref. [77], one can see that the majority of the measured and SM values of the cross section agree with each other at the one-sigma level. Consequently, to bound the eeSS ′ couplings, we may require σ eē→γSS ′ →γ / E not to exceed the corresponding one-sigma empirical errors (after combining the statistical and systematic errors in quadrature).…”

“…Our limits could also be applied to the case of fermionic/scalar DM coupled to a light U(1) gauge boson mediator (referred to as U or Z ) [17,18] with the caveat that the coupling of such a mediator to neutrinos is constrained by neutrino elastic scattering experiments [58,59].…”

“…Consequently, we need to turn to the ILC in order to explore the possibility of seeing the desired signals. After appropriate cuts on the photon energy and angle are imposed, the main background is e + e − → γνν in the SM which can be calculated with formulas available in the literature [29,32]. Among the examples in Table II, we obtain a few that produce contributions to e + e − → γ / E which are not negligible compared to the background at ILC energies.…”
