ABSTRACT. Despite the high prevalence and incidence of cervical cancer, this disease can be avoided and has great healing potential when detected at early stages. Cervical cancer screening is used in monitoring programs for early diagnosis and is considered safe and effective. This study aimed to analyze the conceptions of women on cervical cancer screening. A qualitative study was carried out with 30 women assisted in primary care, in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. The Discourse of the Collective Subject was obtained from interviews carried out from August to October 2016. The speeches expressed the notions that women have about the significance of the screening test, the importance of undergoing the test, and prevention of cervical cancer. The conceptions of the interviewed women revealed that the test prevents diseases, including cervical cancer. However, the discourses left clear the lack of knowledge on HPV, its forms of prevention and cervical cancer. The analysis revealed that women have superficial or insufficient knowledge about the significance of the screening test and cervical cancer.Keywords: women's health, papanicolaou test, uterine cervical neoplasms, family health strategy.Concepções de mulheres sobre o exame preventivo do câncer do colo do útero RESUMO. Embora o câncer do colo uterino apresente-se com alta prevalência e incidência, pode ser evitado e tem grande potencial de cura quando detectado precocemente. O exame preventivo do câncer do colo do útero é utilizado em programas de monitoramento para o diagnóstico precoce, sendo considerado seguro e eficaz. Este estudo objetivou analisar as concepções de mulheres sobre o exame preventivo do câncer do colo do útero. Realizou-se um estudo qualitativo, com 30 mulheres atendidas na atenção básica, em Teresina, Piauí, Brasil. Os dados foram coletados de agosto a outubro de 2016 por meio de entrevistas e analisados pelo Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo. Os discursos expressaram as concepções das mulheres sobre o significado do exame de prevenção, a importância da realização do exame de prevenção e o conhecimento e prevenção do câncer do colo do útero. As concepções das mulheres entrevistadas revelaram que o exame previne doenças, dentre elas, o câncer do colo uterino. No entanto, os discursos explicitaram o desconhecimento entre a associação do HPV, suas formas de prevenção e o câncer cervical. A análise revelou que as mulheres apresentam pouca profundidade ou conhecimento insuficiente sobre o significado do exame preventivo e o câncer do colo do útero.Palavras-chave: saúde da mulher, teste de papanicolaou neoplasias do colo do útero, estratégia saúde da família.

| The human papilloma virus, also called HPV, is a virus that sets in the skin or mucous membranes, which can affect both men and women. HPV infection is transmitted by sex as well as other means of contamination. Overall objective of the study: Understanding women's knowledge about the prevention of Human Papilloma Virus. Specific objectives: To characterize the sociodemographic profile of the study population; Women's knowledge about HPV. Methodology: The study is characterized as descriptive and exploratory, with a cross-sectional design and a qualitative approach. This research was carried out in a UBS located in the city of Vitória da Conquista-BA. The research participants will be women, users of this Health Unit, aged between 15 and 25 years. The population will be made up of all the women registered in the UBS, representing a sample of the non-probabilistic type for convenience. A semi-structured questionnaire will be used, formulated by the researcher. It includes questioning variables such as: age, occupation, income, schooling, race, access to information, knowledge about the meaning of HPV. Results: The mean age distribution of the population was 19 years ± 2.84 years. It was observed in this study that the age of participants was between 15 and 24 years old, demonstrating the lack of knowledge about HPV before the age of 25 years. Qualitative analysis shows that most participants have no knowledge about the human papilloma virus. Conclusion: women interviewed have no knowledge about the human papilloma virus, the risks it can bring to health and its forms of prevention. This shows the need to implement educational and care programs in this age group, mainly because age is a risk factor for virus contamination.

Objective: to identify the knowledge of women visual impairment about the human papillomavirus and its association with risk factors. Methods: cross-sectional study with 29 women with visual impairment using a questionnaire containing demographic variables, risk factors and knowledge about the human papillomavirus. The analysis was performed using analytical and descriptive statistics, Fisher's test, considering the significance level of 5%. Results: most participants said that they had already heard about the human papillomavirus (86.2%). One verified an association between the knowledge about the virus and the age of first sexual intercourse, the preventive Papanicolaou test and the frequency and use of condom. Conclusion: women with visual impairment, although with limitations, show knowledge about the human papillomavirus. This knowledge was associated with risk factors. Objetivo: identificar o conhecimento das mulheres com deficiência visual sobre o Papilomavírus Humano e sua associação com fatores de risco. Métodos: estudo transversal, com 29 mulheres com deficiência visual, utilizando questionário contendo variáveis: sociodemográficas, fatores de risco, conhecimento sobre Papilomavírus Humano. Na análise utilizou-se estatística descritiva e analítica, teste de Fisher, considerando o nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: a maioria das participantes afirmou já ter ouvido falar sobre o Papilomavírus Humano (86,2%). Verificou-se associação entre o aspecto conhecimento sobre este vírus com a idade da primeira relação sexual, o exame preventivo de Papanicolau e a frequência e o uso do preservativo. Conclusão: as mulheres com deficiência visual, embora com limitações, apresentam conhecimento sobre o Papilomavírus Humano. Esse conhecimento esteve associado aos fatores de risco.
