Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the Crack Use Relapse Scale (CURS)

Abstract: Background: When it comes to crack/drug use, relapse is a relatively common event in the first weeks after the end of treatment. However little is known about what happens to patients who relapse after discharge. Objective: To report the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the Crack Use Relapse Scale (CURS) in an inpatient population. Methods: A five-point Likert scale with 25 items and, initially, 9 theoretical factors was generated and utilized in a cross-sectional study with a sample of 333 hospitalized m… Show more

“…To check the significance of the indices, the cutting values were used as follows: CFI > 0.9 means a good fit for the model (Ajzen, 2002; Hooper et al , 2008); SRMR < 10, which indicates a good fit (Kline, 2016). Pedroso et al , 2016 state if root mean square error of approximation is ≤ 0.05, which indicates a good fit. …”

“…reasonably uncorrelated with other variable. 29,30 Hence the factor with two items (r = .62) was also retained in this study. In social sciences a factor solution accounting for the total variance extracted up to 60 percent, 28 or at least 50 percent is acceptable.…”

“…29 CFA using AMOS version 22 was conducted using the supervisor and colleague feedback data separately. Con rmation of factors is based on the t indices which range from 0 to 1, and values closer to 1 suggest good model t. 30 SEM researchers advocate .95 as a more desirable level.…”
