“…Several studies described the concomitant TAVI procedure and OPCAB coronary revascularization and reported the similar 30‐day mortality as in our cohort 22,29,30 . In our study we observed 10% 30‐day mortality.…”

“…Furthermore, not every coronary lesion is eligible for PCI. Some authors describe successful combination of TAVI and surgical coronary revascularization 22,23 . In our cohort the mean SYNTAX‐score was 28.7 ± 11.7, which led to the decision of choosing surgical coronary revascularization over PCI.…”

“…Thus, poorer survival rates are to be expected. However, when compared to the 14.3% 30-day mortality rate previously reported for this particular hybrid procedure in a comparable patient population [11], the rate in the present study is still particularly elevated. The reason for this remains unclear, but is likely related to patient factors.…”

“…Since the first documented MIDCAB plus transapical (TA) TAVR hybrid in 2010 [9], several other successful cases have been reported [5, 10]. However, only one larger study has evaluated the safety and feasibility of TAVR+OPCAB/MIDCAB to date [11], and no comparisons with TAVR+PCI and SAVR+CABG have been performed.…”

“…Minimally invasive direct CABG (MIDCAB) is an even less invasive surgical technique used to treat a single vessel CAD (usually left anterior descending artery). Baumbach et al [69] , in a single-center prospective registry, compared outcomes of patients undergoing TAVI + OP/MIDCAB with those undergoing TAVI + PCI and SAVR + CABG. TAVI (58% transapical and 42% transaortic) + OP/MIDCAB was associated with the highest mortality and rehospitalization rate compared to TAVI (mainly transfemoral) + PCI (staged approach) and SAVR + CABG.…”
