Conceptual design of a third generation aerobatic aircraft

Abstract: This paper presents the development of an aerobatic aircraft including the influence of platform configuration on performance, elegance and safety of aerobatic manoeuvres. Several aircraft of different wing loadings were compared and the reduction of wing loading on manoeuvring slowdown was studied. Advantages of the biplane configuration influence on the desired properties of aerobatic aircraft were discussed in detail. Results of numerical simulations obtained for HARNAS-3 aircraft were compared with corresp… Show more

“…Hydrodynamic tunnels appear to be the best solution for observing turbulence as water has a density about 800-times greater and a dynamic viscosity 50-times higher than air in a standard atmosphere. Therefore, water has more potential for studying turbulence as it is easier to achieve flow visualisation in a denser environment than in an air aerodynamic tunnel, where the visualisation medium is quickly dispersed [41,42].…”

“…For example, 3D printing is fast and precise, allowing for complex shapes to be created from a variety of materials. However, the cost of 3D printers and printing materials can be very high, especially when using advanced technologies such as selective laser sintering (SLS) or 3D metal printing [22]. By comparison, CNC machining techniques are capable of producing very high-quality models.…”
