“…Coker gas oil (CGO), the vacuum distillate fraction of coking product, accounts for 20−30 wt % yield in thermal conversion of heavy feedstock . CGO can be used either as blending stock for fuel oil or feedstock for catalytic cracking and hydrocracking. , However, CGO contains high concentrations of basic nitrogen compounds, which cause rapid catalyst deactivation in downstream catalytic processes. Hence, more comprehensive and detailed characterization of the composition of basic nitrogen compounds present in CGO can be useful in the designing and developing of better catalysts for processing heavy feedstock.…”

“…The properties of ICGO derived from the Venezuelan Mery-16 crude oil vacuum residue delayed coking unit are listed in Table . The properties of coker heavy gas oil (CHGO) derived from Athabasca bitumen (A-CHGO) and five kinds of CGOs from China, namely, Daqing coker gas oil (DQ-CGO), , Changling coker gas oil (CL-CGO), Dagang coker gas oil (DG-CGO), Shengli coker gas oil (SL-CGO), and LH-CGO, are also included in Table . Table shows that DQ-CGO and CL-CGO portray lower total nitrogen and aromatic contents, which entails no major processing challenges.…”

“…In general, hydrotreatment and hydrocracking are employed to upgrade CGO, but these processes involve high capital and operating costs. An economical and feasible alternative to upgrade CGO is to use it in direct fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) feedstock or as part of FCC feedstocks. In China, the lack of hydrocracking and hydrotreatment resources has led many refineries to use of FCC units to convert CGO. However, large amounts of basic nitrogen compounds in CGO neutralize and temporarily deactivate acid sites of catalysts, thereby decreasing feed conversion and product yields and causing low levels of blended CGO/FCC feedstock ratios.…”
