“…In terms of spatial planning of facilities, there are many studies such as a study presenting a spatial configuration model of two-rooms/two-areas and two-rooms/three-areas regarding the correspondence between the content and function of activities and floor configuration, based on interviews with facility staff, measurements of floor plan and furniture layout, and observation surveys, 6 a study on the relationship between the children's various ways of spending time and the spatial configuration, discussing the differences and characteristics of the activity types and number of children playing, through an analysis of the places (seven categories) for sitting (four types) and moving (five types) in a one-room facility with a corner, 7 a study examining the advantages and disadvantages of special classrooms, dedicated rooms in annex buildings, multi-purpose rooms on the second floor, and multi-purpose spaces, and discussing the key points for their maintenance, based on a survey on the usage of after-school children's classrooms with different establishment methods, 8 a study presenting ten necessary spatial conditions and planning issues such as living space, entrance, equipment, earthquake resistance, evacuation, etc., based on a survey and interview with schoolchild facilities using private house, 9 and a study that indicates the validity of spatial configuration with two-room/three-area that can secure a place for children to flee and a place for stuff to prepare and clean up in advance, based on a survey of a facility that uses a renovated barn of a farmhouse, on how the facility is used after school on weekdays and during summer vacation when the number of children varies. 10,11 Regarding the scale planning of facility, there are studies such as a study on a necessary area of dedicated room based on activities of children, by calculating the used area for children's activities and plays based on a survey of how the facility is used in each facility operated by different managers, 12 and a study on the relationships between the number of places for childcare, utility categories of childcare rooms, and appropriate number of children and area size, based on a questionnaire survey. 13 As shown above, studies on spatial configuration and scale planning of facilities have been accumulated, while there are only a few accumulated researches on regional facility planning.…”
