Abstract:In the current paper, we investigate topological invariants, calculated by HMI LOS magnetograms as complexity descriptors of solar magnetic fields. We compared them with the physical parameters provided by the Space-weather HMI Active Region Patches (SHARP). We have repeated forecasting experiment of Stanford Solar Observatories Group with the same positive and negative active region patches database, but replace SHARP parameters with topological invariants of corresponding LOS magnetograms. The classification… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
