Research on the modus operandi ("method of operation") of child sexual abuse (CSA) offenders has been useful in informing successful prevention programs (LeClerc, 2009).However, a gap in the literature regarding the strategies offenders use to lure potential CSA victims still remains. The present study seeks to examine the effects of offendervictim relationship and offender age on the use of strategies to lure victims for the purpose of committing CSA. Data for this study is taken from a larger investigation which included 854 identified adolescent and adult CSA offenders from nine different states. A 2 X 2 MANCOVA analysis revealed significant group differences for the each of the subgroups of interest in their use of threats and coercion to lure victims for the purpose of committing CSA. More specifically, it was found that adolescent CSA offenders utilize threats and coercion with a greater frequency than adult CSA offenders and intra-familial CSA offenders utilize threats and coercion with a greater frequency than extra-familial CSA offenders. Follow up analyses at the item level indicated group differences on multiple items (i.e., specific strategies) comprising the subscales used. The implications of these findings for treatment and prevention work in this area are discussed, as are policy impacts. Finally, suggestions for future research are provided.ii Acknowledgements

Eight bibliographic databases and three thesis portals were searched.The reference lists of five papers and one textbook were hand searched. Nine experts were contacted for ongoing or unpublished studies. The total number of hits was 1853, of which 55 were duplicates, 1769 were irrelevant, 14 did not meet the inclusion criteria and one paper was unobtainable. RO objetivo deste artigo foi levantar informações sobre o atendimento psicológico prestado às mães de crianças e adolescentes vítimas de abuso sexual, bem como aos autores dessa violência. A literatura mostra a importância de incluir familiares não abusivos no tratamento da vítima, tendo em vista seu envolvimento na situação. Além disso, aponta que a discussão sobre o atendimento psicológico aos perpetradores também é necessário para que se possa intervir no ciclo da violência, prevenindo novas vítimas. Por fim, são discutidos os sentimentos de mães e perpetradores frente à revelação do abuso, objetivos do tratamento em cada caso e os aspectos psicológicos relacionados. São também apresentados alguns estudos nacionais e internacionais sobre experiências de tratamentos e algumas dificuldades práticas para o andamento dos tratamentos e para se realizar estudos sobre essa temática, sobretudo no Brasil.Palavras-chave: abuso sexual infantil; violência; atendimento psicossocial.
