“…In line with our results, the latest and largest registry of 2127 procedures from hospitals in the United States comparing BAV versus BAV with PCI has also reported no difference in in-hospital mortality, length of hospital stay, and procedural complications. On the other hand, we reported lower percentage of complications and in-hospital mortality in the group with BAV and PCI with no differences in baseline characteristics contrary to higher prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, anemia, or coagulopathy in the group with BAV and PCI reported by Singh et al 17 Particular attention should be given to our study as we provided data not only for in-hospital but also 12-month follow-up that showed higher survival in the group of patients with BAV and PCI. This suggests that combining both procedures, if needed, might lead to significant profits with acceptable procedural risk.…”

“…On the other hand, concomitant PCI and TAVI has also been shown to be feasible . Similarly, patients with significant CAD scheduled for BAV can be treated with PCI at the time of BAV (as a single procedure) or staged PCI . However, data on the safety of BAV with concomitant PCI are scarce.…”

“…This methodology of identifying patients undergoing procedures, co-morbid conditions and associated complications has previously been utilized in several studies. 12,13,19 Statistical Analysis. Stata IC 11.0 (Stata-Corp, College Station, TX) and SAS 9.3 (SAS Institute Inc, Cary, NC).…”

“…Stata IC 11.0 (Stata-Corp, College Station, TX) and SAS 9.3 (SAS Institute Inc, Cary, NC). 19 All analyses were performed using hospital-level discharge weights provided by the NIS to minimize biases. Hierarchical mixed effects models were generated in order to identify the independent multivariate predictors of in-hospital mortality and complications.…”
