Dauble & Geist (2000) explained that the more complex the channel pattern, the more likely are downwelling and upwelling zones, conditions which may ultimately affect where salmonids spawn; explaining the shift in spawning site preference observed in this study. From our observation it appears that the floods had a beneficial effect by creating conditions suitable for spawning in the middle section that was the least attractive for spawning fish in 1995.…”
