Comparison of localisation of α- and β-oestrogen receptors in posterior part of the piriform cortex in rabbit males

Abstract: The aim of the study was to compare the immunoreactivity and distribution of two kinds of oestrogen receptors within the nerve tissue of the posterior part of the piriform cortex, as well as their localisation within nerve cells. The studied material consisted of 12 brains of sexually mature rabbit males weighing 3-4 kg. In order to prove the presence of α and β receptors, Er-α and Er-β antibodies were used. The examinations showed the presence of Er-α and E-rβ receptors in all layers of the piriform cortex, h… Show more

“…illustrated in Figs 2.4 to 6.2) as observed in adult rabbits: (i) the superficial plexiform layer, (ii) the superficial compact cell layer and (iii) the deep cell layer (Krakowska et al 2013). The PCx appears to be involved in perception of the MP and single conditioned odorants presented alone or in elemental/configural mixtures in 0-and 4-day-old pups (Charra et al 2012(Charra et al , 2013Schneider et al 2016a,b) and shows feeding-entrained anticipatory metabolic activity in 7day-old pups (Olivo et al 2014).…”

“…Both PCx subdivisions exhibit three layers in rabbit pups (I,II,III, illustrated in Figs 2.4 to 6.2) as observed in adult rabbits: (i) the superficial plexiform layer, (ii) the superficial compact cell layer and (iii) the deep cell layer (Krakowska et al. ).
