“…108 As we have seen, international law`accommodates the reality of the need for states to prioritize the allocation of scarce resources provided that the state is able to demonstrate that the process for allocating these resources can be shown to be reasonable.' 109 The issue here, however, is clearly not a financial one: indeed, an abortion was a far cheaper option than the ongoing care that L.C. will now require for the rest of her life.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…All economies were faced with the problem of how to promote international capital flows effectively. The famous US economist James Tobin first proposed throwing 'some sand in the well-greased wheels of international finance' (Tobin, 1998). Unfortunately, because the international community and the IMF were tolerant and optimistic regarding cross-border capital flows, such management measures received minimal attention, and the Tobin tax was not discussed at length.…”

“…Agent-based approaches have also been used to test the effects of policies, regulations and taxation systems on the market dynamics, see for instance [16,17]. Inspired by the seminal work of Tobin [36], several taxes on financial transactions were proposed to regulate the markets, whose effects have been controversial [37,38]. The effect of taxation was also investigated in the kinetic exchange market models, see [18][19][20][21] and references therein.…”
