DEDICATIONAfter studying medicine at Hanover Medical School and philosophy and social psychology at the Leibniz University Hanover, Omke E. Teebken joined the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel at the end of the 1990s as a research fellow at the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery headed by Professor Dr Axel Haverich, whom Omke E. Teebken later followed back to Hanover.In Hanover, besides working as a clinician, Omke E.Teebken was particularly active scientifically, contributing to the establishment of the then newly founded Leibniz Laboratories for Biotechnology and Artificial Organs (LEBAO). His work focused on regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, and subsequently he wrote his habilitation thesis in in this field. After basic training in cardiac surgery, he specialised clinically in vascular surgery and played a pioneering role in the development of this field. Before being appointed director of the Clinic for Vascular Surgery e Endovascular Surgery at the Peine Clinic in 2016, Omke E. Teebken headed the Vascular Surgery e Endovascular Surgery Division of the Department of Cardiothoracic, Thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery at Hanover Medical School. Professor Teebken was a highly appreciated, committed, and competent colleague and teacher.On 8 April 2019, Professor Teebken passed away after a short and severe illness. He was member and author of the ESVS guideline writing committee, an esteemed colleague, and friend.We will always honor his memory.

Worldwide, especially in developed countries, prolonged life expectancy results in increasing number of age-related / associated diseases like diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, malignancies, neurological diseases, organ failures etc. in the community. Beside the numbers, planning and applying the treatment of pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases simultaneously in such patients is stil a major challenge. The knowledge and experience gained from the increasing number of patients all over the world led to the conclusion that it could be possible to treat some patient groups who would be considered as difficult or impossible to cure in the past. In this paper we evaluated the treatment process in lung diseases (especially malignancies) and cardiovascular disease seen simultaneously.Keywords: Lung cancer, heart disease, coronary artery disease, pulmonary surgery, concurrent heart lung disease, concurrent heart lung surgery ÖzetÖzellikle batıda olmak üzere tüm dünyada uzayan ortalama ömür süresi, yaşa bağlı/ilintili hastalıkların da toplumda daha sık görülmesi sonucunu doğurmaktadır. Bunlar diyabet, kalp damar hastalıkları, maligniteler, nörolojik hastalıklar, organ yetmezlikleri gibi hastalıklardır. Bu durumun yarattığı sorunlardan biri de eş zamanlı olarak görülen akciğer ve kalp damar hastalıklarının tedavisinin planlanması ve uygulanmasıdır. Tüm dünyada giderek artan sayıdaki hastalardan elde edilen bilgi ve deneyimler eskiden çok zor hatta imkansız olarak kabul edilen hasta gruplarında bile tedavi seçenekleri olabileceğini ve başarıyla uygulanabileceğini göstermektedir. Bu yazıda eş zamanlı görülen kalp-damar hastalıkları ve özel-likle maligniteler olmak üzere akciğer hastalıklarındaki tedavi süreçlerini değerlendirdik.Anahtar kelimeler: Akciğer kanseri, kalp hastalığı, koroner arter hastalığı, akciğer cerrahisi, eş zamanlı kalp akciğer hastalığı, eş zamanlı kalp akciğer cerrahisi
