Abstract: The authors report their surgical experiences with 55 extensive tumours of the pharyngoesophageal junction. Thirty-three of these cases were managed by circular pharyngolaryngectomy, total oesophagectomy with stripping and left coloplasty, and 22 were treated with circular pharyngolaryngectomy with free intestinal transplants.
