Collective and non-collective high-spin states in115I

Abstract: The sZMo(2'A1,2p2ny) reaction has been used t o populate high-spin states i n "'I. The dominant structures are associated with ~h ~~/ ~[ 5 5 0 ] $ -and ng,/,[404];+ orbitals. At the highest spins, favoured stater with I" = yand ics of such states in the odd-A 1'5-'z11 isotopes are discussed.--, associated with non-collective oblate configurations, are yrast. “…In fact, coexistence of noncollective and collective level structures has been observed experimentally in the neighboring even-even 122-126 Xe (see Ref. [43] and references therein) and in odd-A 115-119 I isotopes [14,15,44]. Collective configurations are predicted to have deformations with γ ∼ 0 • or −50 • .…”

“…In addition to these prolate bands, collective and non-collective oblate structures have recently been identified in llsI, ~l~I and ~z~I [1][2][3]. In this note we present 3,-spectroscopic results on high-spin states in ~rI.…”

“…The predicted equilibrium deformation is The alignment behaviour in band 1 is strikingly different. In neighbouring li~ and 121Cs nuclei [13], as well as in the 115I and 121I nuclei [2,3], the 1/2- [5 5 0] band has very gradual neutron (hit/2) ~ alignments. In ilrI this band crossing is obviously completely smeared out.…”
