Abstract: Abstract:The aim of the present study is to provide new insights into the CO 2 and CH 4 adsorption using a set of biomass-based activated carbons obtained by physical and chemical activation of olive-stones. The adsorption behavior is analyzed by means of pure gas adsorption isotherms up to 3.2 MPa at two temperatures (303.15 and 323.15 K).The influence of the activation method on the adsorption uptake is studied in terms of both textural properties and surface chemistry. For three activated carbons the CO 2 a… Show more

“…Oxygen groups in the carbon framework improve CO 2 adsorption. According to Peredo-Mancilla et al [100], the activated carbon was derived from corn stover and activated by H 3 PO 4 , CO 2 , and H 2 O, respectively. Carbon activated by H 3 PO 4 showed the best CO 2 capture capacity of 10.9 mmol g -1 .…”

“…Those can be explained due to the effect of the physical characteristic of the adsorbent, especially the pore surface [14]. The ability of adsorbents to adsorb carbon dioxide molecules in biogas is practical at microporesized pore volume, while methane adsorption is at mesopore-sized pore volume [15]. Table 2 shows of the adsorbent's the surface area characteristics analyzed by surface are analyzer (SAA).…”

“…In this regard, Peredo-Mancilla et al, (2018) studied the effect of different activation methods for producing activated biochars from olive stone for CO2 capture. They concluded that physical activation favoured CO2 adsorption capacity [20]. Plaza et al, (2019) designed a novel multibed heat-integrated vacuum and temperature swing adsorption process to capture CO2 emitted from a coal-fired power plant.…”
