Abstract: Background The IQ-motif-containing GTPase-activating protein (IQGAP) family comprises three members, IQGAP1, IQGAP2 and IQGAP3. IQGAP3 is the latest addition to the family. This study mainly investigated the novel marker IQGAP3 at serum and tumor tissue levels compared with the markers B7-H4 and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and in healthy individuals, aiming to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of IQGAP3 for CRC. “…Promising CRC screening results are presented in [ 21 ]. The work presents a successful method for colorectal cancer detection using a set of proteomic data: IQGAP3, which is the third member of the IQ-motif-containing GTPase-activating protein family, B7-H4 and COX-2.…”

“…IQGAP3 has also previously been implicated in the proliferation of epithelial cells (27). Moreover, previous studies have revealed the role of IQGAP3 in the proliferation and metastasis of lung, gastric, breast, pancreatic cancer, and colorectal cancer as well as hepatocellular carcinoma (29)(30)(31)(32)(33)(34)(35). Therefore, the role of IQGAP3 is crucial in the malignant transformation of several types of cancer.…”

“…Moreover, IQGAP3 is hypothesized to be involved in the proliferation of epithelial cells (27), and is a novel member of the IQGAP family, which was discovered in 2007 (28). IQGAP3 is located on chromosome 1 at 1q21.3 loci and has been reported to act as an oncogene in several types of cancer (29)(30)(31)(32)(33)(34)(35). Furthermore, IQGAP3 is a transmembrane protein, and has been speculated to be a potential therapeutic target (35).…”

“…Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common malignancy and the fourth leading cause of tumor-related deaths worldwide [ 1 ]. Although advances have been achieved in early detection and effective treatment, the survival rate of CRC is still poor [ 2 ]. Among all CRC patients, approximately one-third are diagnosed as stage II [ 3 ].…”
