Chronic Hypoxemia in Children With Congenital Heart Defect Impairs Airway Epithelial Sodium Transport*

Abstract: The impaired airway epithelial amiloride-sensitive Na transport activity in profoundly hypoxemic children with cyanotic congenital heart defect may hinder defense against lung edema after cardiac surgery.
