361ChemInform Abstract Coupling of the key intermediates (I) (obtained in 12 steps and 20% overall yield from dimethyl (S,S)-tartrate) and (II) (obtained in 6 steps and 57% overall yield from (R)-3-hydroxybutanoate) and subsequent work-up furnishes the desired title compound (III).
