Abstract: The leaves of Carica papaya (CP) are rich in natural antioxidants. Carica papaya has traditionally been used to treat various ailments, including skin diseases. This study aims to decipher the antioxidant effects and phytochemical content of different CP leaf extracts (CPEs) obtained using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) and conventional extraction methods. The antioxidant activities of CPEs were evaluated by cell-free (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) and ferric-reduced antioxidative power (FRAP)) a… Show more

“…DNV also induced similar effects in restoration of reduced platelet counts, in an animal model of Dengue virus infection [ 7 ]. C. papaya is a rich source of bioactive molecule rutin [ 30 ], Vitamins A, C and E [ 31 ] which helps the body to gain nourishment, boost immunity and lead to fast recovery [ 32 ]. Anti-viral activities of P. granatum are well known.…”

“…Polyphenols, anthocyanins, flavonoids, and more specifically 1-(5-methyl-2-oxy-[1,2,4]oxadiazol-3-yl)-2-phenyl-ethane-1,2-dione 1-oxime, which is found in the mulberry fruit, possess antioxidant potential [49]. The leaves of Carica papaya, which is a known antioxidant, were found to have lipophilic and hydrophilic bioactive compounds, and these leaves were also proven to possess a nephroprotective effect against heavy metal such as mercury [50,51]. Similar compounds have been found in C. paniculatus seeds; these compounds have been proven to have protective properties in our earlier study [52].…”

“…Kaur et al (2021) also compared UAE with maceration extraction in mango peel samples, noting that TPC from maceration sample was excessively lower than UAE sample (20.5 versus 35.5 mg GAE/g, respectively) [57]. Khor et al (2021) were able to conclude that C. papaya leaves supercritical CO 2 (scCO 2 ) extract improved phenolic content and total extraction yield, and exhibited stronger radical scavenging activity than conventional extracts [58]. Additionally, all the antioxidant activities of the HPP extract of longan fruit were higher compared to conventional extract of longan fruit [59].…”
