Illbasse énergie telle Helminthopsis vers des formes plus robustes comme Chondrites suggèrent une baisse du niveau marin. La bioturbation a également influencé la diagenèse, les grès bioturbés contenant beaucoup moins de ciment précoce de carbonates en comparaison avec les grès non-bioturbés.Les formations de Lauzon et de Pointe-de-la-Martinière se retrouvent respectivement au centre et au sommet du Groupe d'île d'Orléans. La base de la Formation de Lauzon est définie par le conglomérat de Ville Guay. Ce conglomérat résulte de l'érosion d'un récif à thrombolites, conséquence probable d'un affaissement de la marge continentale. Par la suite, un cône boueux/sableux s'est déposé sur les gradins de la marge formant deux séquences granodécroissantes. La Formation de Pointe-de-la-Martinière se compose de turbidites boueuses et de sédiments pélagiques vers l'est et de sédiments du bout de la plate-forme à l'ouest. Ces sédiments de plate-forme sont composés de cycles de Logan et d'alternance shales noirs -calcaires. Ces deux lithofaciès résultent du dépôt dans une zone à haute productivité organique et d'une diagenèse précoce reliée à la forte concentration en CO2. Les deux formations reflètent une transgression majeure recoupée de quelques régressions.L'analyse de faciès et Fichnologie des dépôts du Groupe d'île d'Orléans ont permis de confirmer la présence du Promontoire de Montmorency lors de la période allant du passage du rift à la marge passive (rift-to-drift) de la marge laurentienne. La morphologie de ce promontoire explique la prédominance des turbidites dans un sous-bassin d'eau peu profonde à l'est et des dépôts de plate-forme à l'ouest. La morphologie en touche de piano explique également la distribution des flyschs taconiens et peut être incorporée dans un modèle d'orogenèse de la chaîne appalachienne. Le modèle présenté ici peut également servir de comparaison pour d'autres secteurs des Appalaches. IV ABSTRACTThe understanding of mountain chains is in a large part a study of the morphology and nature of the colliding elements. The distribution of Taconian flysch deposits along the Laurentian margin was controlled by the presence of promontories and reentrants related to the Iapetan rift. The uneven distribution of those sediments is known at a regional scale, but is still poorly defined at a local scale, where second order feature can influence sediment dispersion. The Montmorency Promontory is such a second-order feature found in the Québec Reentrant, and was defined on the basis of faciès changes observed in Middle Ordovician platform and flysch deposits. No influence of this headland has been recognized in older deposits, therefore it is difficult to determine if the promontory is related to the Iapetan rift. However, sedimentary sequences in the Quebec City area were interpreted using obsolete models, which would explain the "absence" of the promontory from Late Proterozoic to Early Ordovician.Stratigraphie evidence of the presence of the Montmorency Promontory during the Cambrian and Early Ordovician ...

Lithium (Li), the lightest of the alkali elements, has geochemical properties that include high aqueous solubility (Li is the most fluid mobile element) and high relative abundance in basalt‐forming minerals (values ranking between 0.2 and 12 ppm). Li isotopes are particularly subject to fractionation because the two stable isotopes of lithium—7Li and 6Li—have a large relative mass difference (∼15%) that results in significant fractionation between water and solid phases. The extent of Li isotope fractionation during aqueous alteration of basalt depends on the dissolution rate of primary minerals—the source of Li—and on the precipitation kinetics, leading to formation of secondary phases. Consequently, a detailed analysis of Li isotopic ratios in both solution and secondary mineral lattices could provide clues about past Martian weathering conditions, including weathering extent, temperature, pH, supersaturation, and evaporation rate of the initial solutions in contact with basalt rocks. In this paper, we discuss ways in which Martian aqueous processes could have lead to Li isotope fractionation. We show that Li isotopic data obtained by future exploration of Mars could be relevant to highlighting different processes of Li isotopic fractionation in the past, and therefore to understanding basalt weathering and environmental conditions early in the planet's history.
