“…Imprinting infl uences not only the maturation of the receptor-signal transduction system, but also the hormone production of the imprinted cell [6] . However, in the critical period, the presence of molecules, similar but not identical with the target hormone, can disturb the normal receptor-hormone connection and false imprinting develops [7,8] with life-long genetic (aberrant gene function [9] ), morphological, biochemical (alteration of cell proliferation, change of hormone production [4,10,11] ), and sexual behavioral [12] consequences (e.g., loss of libido). Some of these misimprintings are transmitted to the progeny generations [13 -16] by, at present, unknown mechanism.…”
