“…Earlier reviews of the research evidence supportive of RET (Drydon & Ellis, 1988;Smith, 1983;Zettle & Hayes, 1980) conclude that there was substantial evidence attesting to the effectiveness of RET as a treatment package. “…Kassinove (1986) reported high correlations between irrational idea statements utilising affect words and self-reported affect. In addition there were decrements in emotional distress.…”

“…Research support for the Integrative Multi-Level Model is derived from empirical studies demonstrating that significant therapeutic change can be produced by both interpersonal change processes (e.g., Bandura, Grusec & Menlove, 1967;Gordon, Lerner & Keefe, 1979;Hersen & Bellack, 1976;Jacobson, 1978;Karoly & Rosenthal, 1977;McLean, Ogston & Grauer, 1973;OConnor, 1969;Patterson & Fleischman, 1979) and intrapsychic change processes (e.g., Cross, Sheehan & Khan, 1982;Feather & Rhoads, 1972;Green & Murray, 1975;Malan, 1976;Meichenbaum, 1972;Novaco, 1975;Rush, Beck, Kovacs & Hollon, 1977;Smith, 1983).…”
