“…The contribution that labour makes to scar rupture is not obvious as Case et a1 (1971) found that the incidence of ruptured or 'windowed' scars (approximately 8%) was similar following labour and elective section. Vigilance is important following prostaglandin treatment since uterine rupture has been reported even in the absence of previous surgery (Bromham & Anderson 1980;Geirsson 1981; Scott & Lichter 198 1) but we believe the risks are small due to the low amplitude, frequent uterine contractions provoked by the prostaglandins (MacKenzie & Embrey 1977;Steiner et al 1979). But the use of additional oxytocics to augment a slowing labour following a prostaglandin induction must be used with extreme caution.…”

“…incubated with PGE2 or P G F h exhibited an augmented net incorporation of radioactivity, whereas in the early (days [16][17][18][19][20][21][22] as well as in the late (days 23 -28) luteal phase a reduction of radiolabelling was seen (Fig. 4).…”

“…Unfavorable cervix is associated with longer duration of labor and higher rate of failure, requiring an emergency caesarean delivery. Performing pre-induction cervical ripening improves the success rate of labor induction (2). There are various methods available and ideally, it should be effective, safe with minimal side effects to mother and fetus, cheap, easy storage, stable at room temperature and associated with high patient's satisfaction.…”
