CD and DSC Investigation of Individual and Complex Influence of Meso-Tetra(4-Oxiethylpyridil) Porphyrin (TOEPyP4) and Its Zn-Complex on DNA

Abstract: CD spectra of (DNA-TOEPyP4) + ZnTOEPyP4, (DNA-ZnTOEPyP4) + TOEPyP4, and DNA + (TOEPyP4-ZnTOEPyP4) complexes have been studied. It is shown that CD spectra of these triple complexes significantly differ from the DNA-TOEPyP4 and DNA-ZnTOEPyP4 double complex spectra, and they are not sum of these double complexes. Especially some strong differences in CD spectra of the triple and double complexes were observed when both porphyrins were added simultaneously into the DNA solution. In this case, ZnTOEPyP4 revealed a… Show more

“…These binding modes are reflected on CD spectra as two positive bands with maxima at about 420 nm and 440 nm (Figure 4(c)). The intensities of these bands are significantly higher in comparison with the some bands at 20˚C at identical TOEPyP4/DNA ratios [12]. Consequently, the influence of Zn-TOEPyP4 complex on DNA at 37˚C is more effective than at 20˚C.…”

“…The CD spectrum of CT‐DNA exhibited a canonical β‐conformation with a large positive band around 270–280 nm, a negative band ∼ 248 nm and a small positive band ∼ 210–220 nm (Figure ). Upon addition of Mn(II) complexes ( 1 ‐ 4 ), an enhancement of the molar ellipticity of the DNA band 270–280 nm was noted which suggest that the complexes bind DNA with the retention of the overall β‐conformation of free DNA …”
