Catastrophic Influence of Global Distortional Modes on the Post-Buckling Behavior of Opened Columns

Abstract: The multimodal buckling of thin-walled isotropic columns with open cross-sections under uniform compression is discussed. Column lengths were selected to enable strong interactions between selected eigenmodes.
