Abstract: Acute myocardial infarction, which can be extremely difficult to treat, is the worst deadly disease around the world. Reperfusion is expedient to reverse myocardial ischemia. However, during reperfusion, reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) and further cell apoptosis are the most serious challenges to cardiomyocytes. Therefore, searching for reagents that can simultaneously reduce oxidative damage and MIRI-induced apoptosis is the pivotal strategy to rescue in… Show more

“… 22 , 23 In contrast to regular ssDNAs, which are difficult to incorporate into cells, tFNAs can be taken up in abundance through caveolin-mediated endocytosis without any further delivery assistance. 24 26 Previous studies have demonstrated that tFNAs have the capacity to provoke cell proliferation and migration and to reduce inflammatory reactions. 27 30 In addition, tFNAs may influence different signaling pathways, such as the Wnt pathway and the Nrf2 pathway.…”

“…The biocompatibility of the FEH films was confirmed by culturing the rat cardiomyocyte (H9c2) as shown in Figure a. We assessed the proliferation activities of H9c2 on the FEH films using the Cell Counting Kit‐8 (CCK‐8) 34,35. After culturing for 3 and 7 days, the number of living cells on the FEH films increased significantly, which indicated that the sol‐gel processed FEH was favorable for cell proliferation (Figure 3b).…”

[34,35] After culturing for 3 and 7 days, the number of living cells on the FEH films increased significantly, which indicated that the sol-gel processed FEH was favorable for cell proliferation (Figure 3b). We further verified the non-cytotoxicity of the FEH films using the LIVE/ DEAD assay method (Figure 3c).…”

“…Hence, restoration of Nrf2 may have a positive influence on the RAAS. Furthermore, based on the consideration that Nrf2 reduces oxidative stress and that tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) are biologically safe, Zhang et al have discovered that TDNs can activate the Nrf2 pathway to improve the outcome after a myocardial infarction injury, by being transferred into the nucleus and upregulating genes involved in antioxidative mechanisms [43]. Ren et al also discovered a pathway which cooperates with Nrf2 to maintain sufficient oxygen availability [44].…”
