Carbohydrases and phytase with rice bran, effects on amino acid digestibility and energy use in broiler chickens

Abstract: Protein sources from cereals are used in broiler diets, usually in order to reduce feeding costs. However, their efficient use in poultry diets is limited by the level of fiber whose compounds are resistant to digestion in the small intestine; due to this sugars are not digested by endogenous poultry enzymes. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of multi-carbohydrase (MC) and phytase (Phy) on the total retention of nutrients, retention of apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AMEN)… Show more

“…However, recent studies (Xie et al, 2021) claimed that the AME and AMEn values for 14-day and 28 day old broilers were 2390 and 2280 and 2190 and 2087 kcal/kg, respectively which is a lower energy value. In addition, the findings of Gallardo et al (2020) are almost similar with an AMEn value of 8.47 MJ/Kg or 2023 kcal/kg for growing cobb broilers. Reports of Dalolio et al (2019) showed that a parboiled brown rice bran has an AMEn value of 2638 kcal/kg for broilers.…”

“…Diets supplemented with enzyme may increase nutrients transport efficiency, thus improving the sugar degradation rate. Gallardo et al. (2020) suggested that carbohydrase supplementation in corn-soybean based diets reduced the negative effects of structural carbohydrates.…”

“…Using phytase can also lead to increased use of dietary energy; it mainly happens because phytase favors mucin availability due to higher cell turnover, which is triggered by its presence in the diet (Bao et al, 2013;Cowieson et al, 2017). Furthermore, phytase can act by preventing the formation of binary protein-phytate complexes through hydrolysis, by reducing endogenous protein flow and nitrogen losses, as well as by increasing nitrogen retention (Cowieson et al, 2017;Gallardo et al, 2020).…”
