Despite its secondary role to the regional economy, the dairy industry has an important social function, mainly to local family farms in the state of Mato Grosso. Unfortunately, regional milk production has been declining in the last decade, and dairy industries are facing difficulties to maintain production over the year, with an idle capacity of around 50% in some regions of Mato Grosso. This study aimed to identify the state pattern of milk yield and seasonal variation in price, analyzing the dynamics of the variables through descriptive and basic statistics. Authors calculated seasonal indexes using moving average in different periods: i) production from 1997 to 2018, and price and production from 2011 to 2018. Our findings indicate that the seasonality of milk yield in Mato Grosso over 1997-2018 spins around 41%, versus 44% from 2011 to 2018. In the same period, the Brazilian indexes reached 20%. In contrast, price seasonality is higher in Brazil (14%) than in Mato Grosso (11%). Considering the price index, we can point out two distinct periods: i) lower payment policy (January to March); ii) higher payment policy (July to September), with peaks in August and February. Regard the price index, the same behavior was seen in Brazil. In conclusion, the seasonality of raw milk production is higher in Mato Grosso concerning the national mean. That oscillation in the supply compromises the processing capacity of regional dairy industries, impacting the price paid to the farmers, reducing dairies production and commercialization.

A otimização dos custos e o acréscimo de benefícios contraídos pelo processo logístico se dão a partir da identificação e da exploração dos trade-offs de custos logísticos. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho se propõe a apresentar, por meio da metodologia de estudo bibliométrico, a evolução e as principais práticas utilizadas na gestão destes custos nas organizações por meio da avaliação de trade-offs em processos logísticos. Para o estudo, foram levantados sessenta e quatro artigos científicos publicados no período de 2006 a 2016 em periódicos classificados pelo Qualis 2014 e ranqueados entre A1 e B2, disponibilizados na Plataforma Sucupira. Os artigos coletados foram pesquisados nas áreas de Engenharias III, da qual a Engenharia de Produção faz parte, e nas Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, onde o tema custos logísticos também é amplamente abordado. A pesquisa realizou-se em três etapas: coleta de dados, análise e síntese. Os resultados revelaram que a área de Pesquisa Operacional lidera como ciência empregada ao utilizar métodos descritivos e estocásticos. Enquanto aspecto restritivo, ficou evidente a dificuldade em aplicações diretas em trade-offs de custos logísticos, o que caracteriza uma lacuna de estudos no que diz respeito à integração entre a logística e a contabilidade.

For this purpose, many of them have found the logistics as the area for reducing the costs and improving services efficiency (Lai and Cheng 2009).The current research was undertaken to address the issue of how logistics performances and global competitiveness relate to each other. Are there any significant relationships between logistics performance score and global competitiveness? Which pillars of global competitiveness highly correlate with the logistics performances? Based on the income levels of group of countries, are there any significant changes in the mean values of global competitiveness over the seven-year period? Which pillars of global competitiveness are showing significant differences?The remainder of this paper is organized as follows. Section 1 reviews the literature on logistics. Section 2 introduces the data and methods used for the analyses by using various measures drawn from the World Bank (2016) Abstract. Logistics has been identified as an area to build cost and service advantages. Therefore, companies are more focused on customer needs and trying to find ways to reduce costs, improve quality and meet the growing expectations of their clients. Indeed, the global competition has led managers to begin to address the issue of providing more efficient logistics services. In this regard, this paper presents an empirical study on logistics performance and global competitiveness. This paper also identifies the associations between logistics performances and global competitiveness. The results indicate that some variables in global competitiveness scores contribute much higher to the logistics performances than the other variables through analysis. The variables that contribute much higher than the other variables to the logistics performances are shown.
