This study was carricd out on 160 Hubbard broiler chicks of onlyone day old. The animals were divided into four groups, and the experiment was terminated by the end of the eight weeks. The main purpose of the study \vas to see the difference in the effects of the milled alfalfa flour and the methanol extracted then millet alfalfa flour on the gro\Vth of chicken. The firsth group was the control and received a diet composed of 5% fish meal, 3 % meat, and bone meal and plant proteins with water and minerals making up the rest. The second group was fed a diet that contained only plant proteins, the third group received 3 % unextracted alfalfa flour mixed in the plant proteins, and the fourth group of animals were fed on a diet containing 3 % ofmethano! extracted alfalfa meal mixed in plant proteins to serve as the test group. The control group that received animal protein sho\Ved a statistically important (P< 0.05) difference for the body wcight gain when compared with the first test group that received only plant proteins, by the and of the eight weeks. The addition of eithcr natural or mcthanol extracted alfalfa meal into the plant protein diet increased the live body weight gain up to the level of animal protein receiving group, although there was a smail differenee for the animal protcins. No statistically important difference was noted bet\Veen the groups fed the extracted or unextraeted alfalfa meals. There \Vas no STATISTICALLY important difference in the rate of food consumption and feed efficiency between the groups. This experiment proved the 3 % of alfalfa meal supplamantation was effeetive on the growth rate of chicks as was the addition offish meal. The methanol extraction did not alter the positive activity of the planL Özet: Tabii yonca unu ilc metanal ekstraksiyonuna tabi tutulmuş yonca ununun civ-civlerin büyümesi üzerine etkilerini araştırmak amacı ile yapılan bu çalışmada 160 adet Hubbard brayler tipi civciv kullanılmış ve denemeye 4 grupla 8 hafta devam edilmiştir.
