CAD formulas of integrated circuit components by fuzzy electromagnetics-simplified formulation followed by rigorous derivation

Abstract

Fuzzy electromagnetics starts from a simplified (fuzzy) formulation and continues with derivations leading to desired CAD formulas of practical circuit components. Because of the simplification at the beginning, the derivation and the formula can be rigorous but remain simple. Simplification is applied only once at the beginning of the derivation. The error resulted is not larger than that of regular methods, analytical or numerical. Many examples of simple and insightful CAD formulas are given in this paper. IntroductionThe usual sequence in EM study of a structure is as follows. It begins with an exact EM formulation, then derivations, then simplifications by truncation or other approximations and ends with the numerical computation.In the analytical (e.g., modal) approach, the derivation phase can be long and dif$cult but the computation is short. In the numerical (e.g., MOM) approach, the derivations can be short or absent, but the computation can be lengthy.
