Abstract: From the Convent of Canonesses Regular of St Augustine in Maaseik (now in the Belgian province of Limburg) a large collection of books in Dutch and Latin -many medieval manuscripts and a few incunables -is still extant in several European libraries. A number of these books is lacking a mark of ovmership or was not written by one of the well-known scribes of this monastery. In those cases studying the different levels of decoration may help to assess or to exclude their provenance from Maaseik.
