This paper presents a preliminary study examining the potential influences of building design on bullying behavior and experiences, of a sample of Malaysia secondary school students. Bullying in school may be an early stage of the developmental sequence that serves as a strong predictor of delinquency and future crime. Through the discussion of findings in previous studies, environmental design approach is as one of the methods to bring down the level of crime in school. Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) is an approach that uses environmental design as a tool to reduce crime from both the physical and the psychological aspects. The features of physical environment such as street layout, building design, lighting and physical decay can affect the occurrence and behaviour of criminals. The shortcomings in the physical environment could open up the opportunity for offenders. Thus, this study seeks to determine if there is a possibility that the actual physical environment in which students spend greater part of their day can affect behaviour, which in turn, can lead to violence in school. A survey was conducted at four secondary schools in Shah Alam, Selangor with a random sample of 406 students from Form 1, Form 2 and Form 3 involving the observation of 32 school blocks. Three principles of Crime CPTED were analyzed in the school environment. The results indicated that there is a significant difference in territoriality and school maintenance which results in the forming of the negative environment in the schools. It was found that this, in turn, affects the frequency of bullying occurring among the students in school. This study examines the nature, prevalence and impact of educator targeted bullying (ETB) in a sample of 575 Malaysian school teachers. Specifically it was predicted that ethnicity may be related to exposure to ETB; that frequency of exposure would vary by type of ETB; that there would be tenure-related differences in terms of exposure and burnout; and that teaching experience could moderate the exposureburnout relationship.Results suggest that less severe forms of ETB are more prevalent than physical forms; and that educators with increased teaching experience are less exposed to ETB. ETB exhibits a negative impact on burnout;and is strongest for student-related burnout. Increased experience buffers the ETB-student-related burnout relationship while ethnicity is unrelated to exposure to ETB.

Perilaku bullying sering terjadi di kalangan remaja saat ini, tidak hanya di lingkungan sekolah tetapi juga di lingkungan pesantren yang merupakan tempat pendidikan ilmu agama. Dampak dari perilaku bullying ini dapat mengganggu kesehatan jiwa remaja, terutama bagi para korbannya. Dampak yang dialami diantaranya ketakutan, perasaan malu, tertekan, sedih dan cemas. Dampak secara fisik juga dirasakan oleh para korban bully, seperti bengkak, terluka, sulit tidur, nafsu makan menurun. Penelitian ini bertujun untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman korban bully dipesantren. Mengeksplorasi pemahaman santri tentang bullying, bentuk bullying yang dialami, penyebab, pelaku dan akibat yang dirasakan. Desain peneleitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi interpretif. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu pesantren di Jember. Pengambilan data menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam selama 30-60 menit menggunakan alat perekam. Partisipan berjumlah 5 orang yang dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling dengan kriteria adalah santri yang pernah mengalami bullying, tinggal di pesantren minimal 1 tahun, mampu menceritakan pengalaman dan bersedia menjadi partisipan. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa partisipan memahami bullying sebagai kekerasan, bentuk bullying yng dialami berupa physical bullying, verbal bullying dan sosial bullying. Pelaku adalah senior dan juga teman sebaya, dikarenakan adanya persaingan, keinginan untuk diakui, keisengan dan kurangnya perhatian pengasuh pesantren. Dampak yang dirasakan partisipan berupa terluka secara fisik, perasaan tidak nyaman, sedih, ketakutan, cemas sehingga berkeinginan untuk berhenti atau keluar dari pesantren. Kasus bullying yang terjadi di lingkungan pesantren mengakibatkan dampak buruk bagi korban dalam perkembangan bio-psiko- dan sosial sang korban. Pihak pesantren dan orang tua perlu memberikan perhatian khusus pada para santri, dan memberikan pemahaman lebih mendalam bagaimana cara mengatasi bullying di pesantren.
