Breeding of industrial hemp with a high content of cannabigerol by the case of ‘Vik 2020’ cultivar

Abstract: To create an industrial hemp variety of the Central European ecological and geographical type with a high cannabigerol content and universal application. Methods. Breeding (self-pollination, creation of artificial populations, selection), field, biochemical (thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography of cannabinoid compounds), instrumental and technological assessment of fibre quality, and statistical methods. Results. Variety ‘Vik 2020’ was obtained as a result of creation of artificial populations. The plants … Show more

“…Given the findings of a previous study, phenological development in cannabis is linked to its geographical origin or, in other words, the latitude to which it has adapted [ 27 ]. This suggests that the present diversity observed in traits, populations, and individuals within a population may be influenced by genetic factors, environmental forces, and their interactions [ 28 ]. As a result, an understanding of the variance within these examined traits in populations that have been adapted to an environment in a long period of time can provide valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying the formation of particular phenotypes.…”

“…Given the findings of Meijer et al, (1994), phenological development in cannabis is linked to its geographical origin or, in other words, the latitude to which it has adapted. This suggests that the present diversity observed in traits, populations, and individuals within a population may be influenced by genetic factors, environmental forces, and interactions between genotype and the environment [23]. As a result, an understanding of the variance within these examined traits in populations that have been adapted…”

“…Промислові коноплі -культура багатопланового господарського використання [1][2][3][4]. Перш за все, це волокниста і біоенергетична культура, яка має високу теплотворну здатність та значну біомасу, характеризується біоремедіаційними властивостями, це культура безвідходного виробництва, бо усі частини рослин придатні для переробки і виготовлення широкого асортименту продукції.…”
