Blockchain-enabled circular supply chain management: A system architecture for fast fashion

Abstract: Circular supply chain management is required for firms to transition from a linear make-use-dispose eco-nomic model to a more sustainable circular economy. However, it faces the critical challenge of tracing the reuse of materials over multiple life cycles involving a variety of stakeholders.Blockchain technology can help manage the complexities of circular supply chain management. This paper takes the first step in developing a system architecture of blockchain-enabled circular supply chain management in the … Show more

“…Blockchain technology with its many elements offers opportunities of visibility, through transparency and traceability capabilities, across the supply chain [27] and particularly helps digitalizing the end-of-life supply chain loop closing activities that further support circular economy principles of which RL is critical [28]. Some general RL-blockchain examples include:…”

“…The applications brought by blockchain technology can only be realized at specific contact points in the network with all relevant parties' acceptance. Thus, data security can be controlled for all supply chain transactions [49]. Blockchain can increase supply chain visibility and enable real-time data sharing on the network.…”
